Frequently asked questions.

What do I need to Buy a gun and how does it work?

Most of the time, just your Washington state ID but it depends on a few different factors so check out our How To page for specific answers to all these questions.

Can I have a gun transfered from an online retailer?

Most likely not. Our rule of thumb is that if it’s something we could order for you we will NOT accept the transfer. There are exceptions, such as like having a used firearm transferred to you from someone, transferring in something we’ve tried to source for you already but just can’t access, inheritance, or prior manager approval.

why don’t you accept online transfers?

Good question. Basically online retailers are putting your small business local gun stores and the backbone of the 2nd amendment out of business on a regular basis. They typically undercut prices and consistently undermine MAP policies, giving you a “deal” that costs you more on the back end with shipping and transfer fees. They don’t take on any of the liability, man power or time to complete the background check, won’t handle warranties, check in processes or any other important processes involved in selling a gun. Even if it’s not from us, buy local, not online.

Can I apply for my concealed pistol license at wade’s?

No. In order to apply for a concealed pistol license you must go through your local police department or Sheriff’s office. Depending on the county you live in, there are different rules and requirements so give your local sheriff’s website a visit.

are their any guns i can buy without a background check?

No.

HOw long is the background check process?

10 business days, so approximately 2 whole weeks. There is no way around this and if it seems like it’s been too long since your background check has been submitted, give us a call and we’ll let you know what’s going on.

How do i know if i’ll pass a background check?

If you’ve had your firearms rights taken away, you would typically know it. If a judge or qualified mental health professional has not officially told you that you are not allowed to own firearms, you will most likely pass the background check.

I’ve been falsely Denied on a background check, what now?

False denials happen relatively often, sometimes it’s due to a dirtbag with the same name as you, sometimes if you had your rights restored, someone forgot to push the right buttons to process it. Either way once you’ve been denied we are required to give you an Appeals Form with your NTN number, with specific instructions on how to appeal a false denial. Follow those instructions and give them any important paperwork required and they will either give you an overturned certificate or have you resubmit. Either way we’ll hold onto the firearm and wait for you to get it taken care and continue from there.

I was a silly goose and tried to buy a gun when i knew i wasn’t allowed to but somehow i thought i would pass the check, but got denied anyway! can i have my money back?

No.

Well, maybe a little bit under very specific circumstances, but generally no. You can NOT come into our store and knowingly break the law and expect us to give you your money back.

Are Suppressors legal in Washington?

As of now yes! However, suppressors/silencers are NFA items, so the process is different than buying a gun. Check out our How To page for specifics.

I’m a girl and new to shooting. Should I get the teeniest tiniest gun possible?

No, definitely not. If you’re new to shooting, tiny guns are not fun to shoot. If you’re experienced at shooting, tiny guns are still usually not fun to shoot. Get a gun that is small enough to comfortably fit your hand, but large enough to control and not have crazy recoil.

Can I buy “assault weapons” in washington ?

No. We have an assault weapons ban in Washington state that prohibits you from buying anything that fits the state’s definition of Assault Weapon which is a broad one. Also every state with an assault weapons ban is different, so just because it’s okay in California does not mean it’s okay here. Also we are not allowed to sell parts, so that’s a bummer too. Also just because a website says it’s legal in Washington does not mean that it is. More often than not most companies we’ve seen that make those claims about their product, are unequivocally wrong. Best thing to do is call and check or come on in.
